(June 20, 2009) - Dr. Nathaniel Higgs Sr., son of the late Benjamin Higgs and Ruth Washington, was born Feb. 14, 1931 in Palmyra, N.C., where he completed elementary school. He attended junior high school in Scotland Neck before moving with his family to Baltimore at an early age.

(June 17, 2009) - Jacquelyn Yvette Belton, daughter of Johnnie and Shirley Belton, was born on August 13, 1978 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on May 29, 2009.

(June 11, 2009) - Ada Virginia Simms was born on Dec. 7, 1929 in Baltimore, Md. She is the daughter of the late John and Blanche Irene Simms. Ada departed this life on April 4, after a lengthy illness.

(June 11, 2009) - Dr. Emerson C. Walden Sr., 85, was memorialized June 9 at Baltimore’s Bethel AME Church. Born in Cambridge, Md., the second of three children to the Rev. Charles E. and Lillian Walden, he grew up in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Dunbar High School in 1940.

Odell Calvin Shaw, son of the late Sarah Shaw-Hall and William Chase, was born on June 13, 1931 in Baltimore, Md. On Jan. 28, God called him to a peaceful rest. Odell received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. In 1948, he attended and graduated from the European Command Academy in Germany.

(June 6, 2009) - Reverend Aaron Robert Moulden Sr., a retired Baltimore City Public School Department of Transportation employee and lifelong Baltimore City resident, died of cancer Feb. 3 at Sinai Hospital. He was 80.

(May 23, 2009) - Dr. Oakley Henry Saunders Jr. of Baltimore died May 19 at his home after a lengthy illness.

(May 9, 2009) - Walter Odel Gray was born on Nov. 24, 1935 in Nansemond, Va. to Violettie Johnson and Walter Gray Sr. He departed this life on March 31.

(May 2, 2009) - Thelma Lee Watson Minion was born in York, S.C. on Feb. 8, 1932, to James Elzaphus and Bertha I Watson. After a lengthy illness, she departed this life on March 28 at Sinai Hospital.
