(June 20, 2009) - Dr. Nathaniel Higgs Sr., son of the late Benjamin Higgs and Ruth Washington, was born Feb. 14, 1931 in Palmyra, N.C., where he completed elementary school. He attended junior high school in Scotland Neck before moving with his family to Baltimore at an early age.

(June 11, 2009) - Dr. Emerson C. Walden Sr., 85, was memorialized June 9 at Baltimore’s Bethel AME Church. Born in Cambridge, Md., the second of three children to the Rev. Charles E. and Lillian Walden, he grew up in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Dunbar High School in 1940.
Odell Calvin Shaw, 77 Special Agent, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
Odell Calvin Shaw, son of the late Sarah Shaw-Hall and William Chase, was born on June 13, 1931 in Baltimore, Md. On Jan. 28, God called him to a peaceful rest. Odell received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. In 1948, he attended and graduated from the European Command Academy in Germany.
