(November 17, 2009) - Doris Alma Lee Pinnick, beloved daughter of the late McDonald Briggs and Myrtle Mamie Mapp, was born July 28, 1926, in Portsmouth, Va. She was called home to rest Sept. 24 after a brief illness.
(November 17, 2009) - On Oct. 10 God called Dorothy Michalene Tilghman (neé Jackson) home to be with him. She was born Sept. 30 in Baltimore to the late Mary Elizabeth Robinson and Thomas Leroy Jackson.
(November 17, 2009) - Preston Theodore Johnson, Jr., a former entrepreneur and more recently a spiritual leader and motivational speaker, died unexpectedly from heart complications Oct. 16. The Glen Burnie resident was 72.
(November 17, 2009) - On May 21, 1917, Essie Mae was born to the late John and Lillie Ferrell in Key West, Fla. She was educated in North Carolina and employed by the Lord Baltimore Laundry in Baltimore for over 40 years.
(November 12, 2009) - William Edward Stokes, son of the late Grant and Annie Louise Streat Stokes, was born on Feb. 2, 1919, in Greenbay, Va. He was one of 13 children. He departed this life on Nov. 9.
(November 12, 2009) - Eubelia Patricia Hairston was born April 15, 1926, in Danville, Va. She was the second daughter born to Pearl Strader Hall and Harry Nathaniel Hall.
(November 2, 2009) - Dr. Henrietta Hestick, Associate Professor of Baltimore City Community College and practicing Clinical Psychologist in Baltimore County, died on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland after sustaining a massive stroke early Tuesday morning.
(October 27, 2009) - Norvice Rachel Goodwin Penny was born July 31, 1933, in Baltimore. The fifth of six children to the late William M. Goodwin and the late Edith Koon Goodwin, she departed this life Sept. 18 at Northwest Hospital with her faithful son, Aaron “Butch” Jenkins, by her side.

(October 8, 2009) - Rodney Spencer Evans Sr., 62, the older son of Margaret and Morton Evans, was born on Sept. 8, 1947, in Baltimore and was reared in the longtime family home in the 1100 block of North Carey Street.
