(August 08, 2009) - With rooftop parties, movies on the pier and so much live music, it seems as though summer is just getting started although August is here.
Meshelle, Bruce Bruce and Deray Davis performed to a pack house at the Hippodrome last Friday for their “Comedic Stimulus Package” concert. Method Man, Redman and Gym Class Heroes were all in town last week to perform at Rams Head Live. The Baltimore Museum of Industry presented “Disconnecting the Wire, What’s Next?” last Thursday at the B.M.I. The event included members of the “Wire” cast and a silent auction. Events 4 Good People held their first rooftop party at the Terrace ( 316 Guilford Ave.) Many of Baltimore's biggest promoters were in the building including Dejuan DHov and Ms. Tiffany Shantez. Baltimore's own Rudy Gay was spotted in town last week lending his basketball skills to a charity game at Coppin State University. Ravens linebacker Terell Suggs was spotted outside of the Marc Clarke morning show announcing his annual celebrity weekend the second week of September.

Participating restaurants include Alonso’s, Babalu Grill, Bertha’s, Blue Agave, Blue Sea Grill, Brewer’s Art, Cafe Hon, Gertrude’s, James Joyce, Lebanese Taverna, Loco Hombre, Mex, Pazo, Roy’s, Sotto Sopra and lots more. Living legend Dick Gregory (one of my favorites) will be in town Aug. 8 to speak on all types of topics ranging from President Obama, Michael Jackson, the economy and much more. He’ll be speaking at Tubman City (200 N. Central Ave.). Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $25 at the door. Erykah Badu will be performing on Saturday with Raphael Saadiq, Mike Epps, Chrisette Michele, Chuck Brown and the Foreign Exchange. The neo-soul concert is happening at the Merriweather Post Pavilion (1045 Little Patuxent Parkway) at 5:30 p.m. You don’t want to miss it.
If you're looking for a place to mix and mingle, try Havana Club or T.D. Lounge for their special happy hours.
Until Next Week,
Mia
