Another week, another blowout win for the Bowie State Bulldogs, who extended its streak of lopsided victories on Oct. 7 with a 41-10 beating of Chowan University at Bulldogs Stadium in Bowie, Md.
The win advanced Bowie State’s overall record to 6-0, 3-0 against the Central Interscholastic Athletic Association (CIAA) North division.
Bowie State’s high-powered offense piled up nearly 600 total yards (591), with junior quarterback Amir Hall accumulating 439 of those yards alone.
Chowan (2-4 overall, 2-1 CIAA) actually scored the game’s first points after returning the opening kickoff 73 yards to set up an easy 1-yard touchdown run.
That’s when Hall took over the game, scoring four touchdowns — including three through the air — over two quarters to give the Bulldogs a 31-10 lead by halftime. Bowie State maintained its lead in the second half with a field goal and a touchdown scored by senior running back Robert Chesson.
Hall completed 26 of 35 pass attempts for 346 yards and three touchdowns passes and also ran for a team-high 93 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Redshirt junior receiver Brandon Britton tied a Bowie State record with a game-high 12 catches for 175 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions.
Chowan running back Michael Offutt Jr. ran for a game-high 104 rushing yards on 19 carries but quarterback Isaiah Alexander was held to just 80 yards passing on five of 14 passes completed.
Next – Bowie State will see its toughest challenge of the year next on Oct. 14 when it takes on fellow undefeated conference foe Virginia State (5-0 overall, 3-0 CIAA).
