Metro Transit Police said in a statement Aug. 7 that 18-year-old Jermaine Brown of Seat Pleasant, Md., which is located in Prince George’s County, has been arrested and charged with assault.

Transit Police say an investigation showed the victim in the shooting is the half-brother of the suspect and police don’t believe he was the intended target. Police say Brown was traveling with his half-brother on Aug. 6 when there was an altercation aboard the train involving Brown and three other individuals.

Police say during the altercation Brown pulled a gun and fired multiple times, striking his half-brother once in the abdomen. Brown’s half-brother remains hospitalized in stable condition.
