Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. showcased his signature speed and savvy boxing skills as he earned an easy majority decision win over Canelo Alvarez on Sept. 14 at MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.
Dubbed as the most anticipated boxing match of 2013, the Mayweather-Alvarez bout went the distance at 12 rounds. But it was Floyd who outboxed his opponent in each round. Mayweather used his speedy left jab and sharp counterpunches to keep Alvarez in check throughout the fight. In the end, two of the three judges ruled in favor of Mayweather; one judge ruled it a draw.
Mayweather's victory extended his perfect record to 45-0 while Alvarez took his first career loss for a record of 42-1.
Mayweather is reported to have made $41.5 million in prize money for his fight, not including his proceeds from Showtime's pay-per-view deal. Alvarez earned $5 million from the fight.
