The Baltimore Orioles fell 3 1/2 games behind in the American League wildcard hunt at the end of the second week of September after losing four of its last six games

(Sept. 9-12) Orioles Lose Series to Yankees, 3-1

The O’s suffered a 3-1 series loss to the New York Yankees. The Orioles won the First Game of the series against the Yankees, 4-2 on Sept. 9. But then went on to fall, 7-5, in the first game of the series, 5-4 in the Second Game and 6-5 in the Third Game of the series.

(Sept. 13-14) Orioles Win one then Lose one against Blue Jays

Baltimore earned a 5-3 win in the First Game of the series against the Blue Jays. Baltimore, however, fell 4-3 in a tight contest in the Second Game of the series on Sept. 14. Starting pitcher Chris Tillman gave up two runs in the seventh inning that cost his team the lead and win. Tillman, nevertheless, pitched well throughout most of the game allowing two early runs in the first inning before going five more innings without allowing a run. But the two earned runs in the seventh inning was a big enough mistake to cost the Orioles an untimely loss.
