Approximately 370 linemen and support staff provided mutual assistance in four states
WHO: Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) linemen and support staff
WHAT: BGE employees and contractors return to Maryland after approximately 10 days of helping to restore electric service in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The freak October snowstorm left 3.2 million people without power from Virginia to Main. BGE personnel assisted Connecticut Power & Light, Consolidated Edison (Con Edison), Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) and Pennsylvania Power and Light (PPL) in their restoration efforts.
WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011
11:30 a.m.
WHERE: White Marsh Mall parking lot – between Ikea and former location of Boscov’s
8200 Perry Hall Blvd.
White Marsh, MD
WHY: BGE well understands the importance of mutual assistance, having been on the receiving end of similar help in late August and early September. During Hurricane Irene, workers from more than 20 states helped BGE restore electric service to more than 750,000 customers. BGE’s response to its sister utilities to the north is the result of existing mutual assistance agreements among utilities.
