SENATOR CARDIN TO ADDRESS SMALL BUSINESS GROUP ABOUT NEW HEALTH CARE REFORM LAW
Cardin also will discuss jobs-creation legislation and the economy



On Monday, March 29, U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin (D-MD) will address the Maryland-Washington Minority Contractors Association about the new health care reform law and how it will affect them.  The Senator will talk about how the tax credit provision in the new law will help small businesses provide health care for their workers.  
 
The Senator also will talk about the recently-enacted Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act, which includes a tax holiday for businesses to encourage hiring of unemployed workers. It also includes enhanced write-offs to help small businesses expand. Senator Cardin also will discuss upcoming legislation that Congress will be considering to provide more help to small businesses.  The Senator has proposed legislation that would provide direct loans to small businesses using $30 billion of TARP funds.
