Comptroller Franchot Opens Tax Mail with the Pros
The Comptroller Spends the Afternoon Opening Returns as the Tax Deadline Approaches

WHAT:  Comptroller Peter Franchot will join the staff and temporary workers of his Revenue Administration Division as they continue to open tax returns. With just a few days left until the tax filing deadline, thousands of pieces of mail are flowing through the Comptroller’s Office. As in years past, Comptroller Franchot will be assisting in the mail opening operation.
 
The Comptroller’s Office receives nearly 1.4 million pieces of mail during a typical tax season. So far this year, agency workers have opened more than 320,000 pieces of mail. The office has about 80 temporary workers to assist in the mail opening efforts.
