WHO: Comptroller Peter Franchot, hundreds of state employees
WHAT: Comptroller Peter Franchot will help nearly 600 agency employees in opening the more than a half million paper tax returns that are received in the final days before the filing deadline. On the Saturday after the tax deadline, called "Super Saturday," much of the agency's workforce comes in to open the large volume of mail received over the last two days. Last year, Franchot and his workers opened more than 225,000 pieces of mail in the one day extravaganza.
Comptroller Franchot will also be available to discuss how the filing season progressed this year.
