More than $26 million in fraud, waste and abuse reclaimed in FY 10, Passage of False Claims Act Strengthens MD's Efforts to Target Theft
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (July 21, 2010) – Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown and MD Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) Inspector General, Thomas V. Russell, will announce steps taken to recapture more than $26.3 million in medical care program dollars during FY 2010 under the Department’s Program Integrity Program. Combined with this year’s successful passage of the O'Malley-Brown administration bill, the Maryland False Health Claim Act (FCA) of 2010, a recovery of additional state tax dollars is expected next year.
