Governor to Address Frederick County Chamber of Commerce;
To Continue “Jobs Across Maryland” Tour With Visit to Thermo Fisher Scientific
ANNAPOLIS, MD (August 16, 2010) – Governor Martin O’Malley tomorrow will spend the day in Frederick County. Tomorrow morning, Governor O’Malley will address the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce and will focus his remarks on the O’Malley-Brown Administration’s efforts to create jobs, save jobs, and improve the conditions for Maryland businesses, large and small, to create and save jobs.
In the afternoon, he will continue his “Jobs Across Maryland” tour and will visit Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Frederick, Maryland biorepository facility. Thermo Fisher Scientific operates the world's largest biorepository, storing more than 200 million biological specimens for disease research and drug development. The 33,600 square foot Frederick site stores samples for the majority of the National Cancer Institute's clinical trials and will soon undergo expansion. Statewide, Thermo Fisher Scientific employs more than 250 people and operates 13 facilities.
