Comptroller Franchot Kicks Off Shop Maryland Week in Columbia

-The Comptroller Will Announce Details of Upcoming Tax-Free Period-

WHAT: Comptroller Peter Franchot will kick-off Shop Maryland, the state’s annual tax-free week, at The Mall in Columbia. The Comptroller will announce the details of the tax-free period along with several representatives of the retail industry, in an effort to promote the week-long event which begins this Sunday, August 14 and concludes next Saturday, August 20.

Marylanders will not have to pay the 6 percent sales tax on qualifying clothing and shoes priced $100 or less during that time.
