Comptroller to Speak on How Recovery in Communities Can Lead to Economic Recovery

WHAT: Comptroller Peter Franchot will join members of Baltimore’s substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation community to promote September as National Recovery Month. Additionally, he will announce the upcoming Fifth Annual Recovery Walk and Rally and speak about how substance abuse recovery can aid our state in its economic recovery.
The group will make this announcement at the Afya Community Garden, which was once known as “Needle Park” because of the drug abuse that took place there. The location, which once represented blight and despair, now exemplifies hope, as it provides fresh and nutritious produce for more than 50 families in the surrounding community.
