LT. GOVERNOR BROWN TO ADDRESS MARYLAND TEACHERS OF THE YEAR GALA AWARDS BANQUET

BALTIMORE, Md. (October 14, 2011) – TONIGHT, Lt. Governor Anthony Brown will speak at the 21st Annual Gala Awards Banquet honoring Maryland’s 2011-2012 Teachers of the Year. The event pays tribute to 24 outstanding teachers from every local school district, seven of which are finalists for the 2012 Maryland Teacher of the Year award. The winner will give speaking appearances across the state as a representative of Maryland teachers and will compete for the title of National Teacher of the Year. Michelle Shearer, last year’s Maryland Teacher of the Year, went on to be named the National Teacher of the Year.
