FREDERICK, Md. (November 8, 2011) – Tomorrow, Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown will visit Frederick County to meet with local leaders and highlight efforts to create jobs and spur economic growth.
The Lt. Governor will first deliver remarks at a meeting of the Rotary Club of Frederick, where he will discuss the importance of investing in public infrastructure and transportation projects in order to create jobs and lay the foundation for long-term economic recovery.
Lt. Governor Brown will then visit the North Pointe community of Frederick, where Annapolis-based Nexus EnergyHomes Inc. is partnering with the Frederick County Housing Authority to build 55 affordable, net-zero energy homes. The project is being partially funded by a $70,000 grant from the Maryland Clean Energy Center and the Maryland Energy Administration, which was made possible in-part by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The Lt. Governor will tour the development to highlight the innovative partnerships here in Maryland that allow our state to continue to create jobs.
Lt. Governor Brown leads the O’Malley-Brown Administration’s economic development portfolio. In his role as Chair of the Joint Legislative and Executive Commission on Oversight of Public-Private Partnerships, the Lt. Governor has held four hearings, as well as a policy forum for over 200 attendees, in recent weeks to evaluate the State’s framework for public-private partnerships in order to increase the potential for private investment in public infrastructure projects. Additionally, Lt. Governor Brown chairs Maryland’s FastTrack initiative – part of Maryland Made Easy (www.easy.maryland.gov) – to streamline the state permitting process for businesses and developers and serves as Chair of the Governor’s Subcabinet on Base Realignment and Closure.
