Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown will deliver keynote remarks at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) 2012 Leadership Planning & Work Session. The Lt. Governor will address COG’s executive leadership on issues related to economic competitiveness and innovation in Maryland and the National Capital Region.
The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, known as COG, helps develop regional solutions to issues such as the environment, affordable housing, growth and development, public health, child welfare, public safety, homeland security, and transportation. Founded in 1957, COG is an independent, nonprofit association comprised of elected officials from 22 local governments, members of the Maryland and Virginia state legislatures, and members of the U.S. Congress. Lt. Governor Brown leads the O’Malley-Brown Administration’s economic development portfolio, having served as Chair of the Joint Legislative and Executive Commission on Oversight of Public-Private Partnerships, leading Maryland’s FastTrack initiative – part of Maryland Made Easy (www.easy.maryland.gov) – to streamline the state permitting process for businesses and developers, and serving as Chair of the Governor’s Subcabinet on Base Realignment and Closure.
