CARDIN TO PARTICIPATE IN DEFENDER’S DAY CELEBRATION AT FT. MCHENRY
On Saturday, September 8, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) will participate in the Defender’s Day Celebration at Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine. Defender’s Day will celebrate the 198th anniversary of the successful defense of Baltimore from the British invasion during the War of 1812. It also celebrates The Star-Spangled Banner, our National Anthem, which was composed by Francis Scott Key during the Battle of Baltimore on September 14, 1812. In March, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed Senator Cardin’s resolution marking the bicentennial celebration of the War of 1812.
