STATEMENT FROM LT. GOVERNOR BROWN ON THE 11th ANNIVERSARY OF THE SEPTEMBER 11th ATTACKS

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (September 11, 2012)
– Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown issued the following statement today on the 11th Anniversary of the September 11th attacks:

“11 years ago, all of us watched in horror as our country was attacked and thousands of innocent men, women, and children lost their lives. Each and every day, families continue to mourn for husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters who will never return. As we remember those who were lost, we also give thanks to those who bravely chose to risk – and give – their lives so that others might live. Countless police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and ordinary citizens put the safety of others before their own, and we will never forget their heroism."

“In the months and years following 9/11, thousands of U.S. servicemen and women have paid the ultimate price while defending America’s freedoms abroad, and many more have returned to our shores wounded and in need of care. Today, we must renew our vow to never forget their sacrifice, and commit to giving America’s veterans the care and service they’ve earned."

“Our country will continue to face challenges. But on days like today we’re reminded that the best way to confront our difficulties is together, standing side by side as Americans, united in our values of freedom, tolerance, and equality.”
