Skinner of the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, local officials and community development and nonprofit representatives to announce this year’s recipients of the state’s Community Legacy program grants. This year’s grants, totaling $5.5 million, will benefit almost five dozen projects in 19 counties and Baltimore City. Projects include, but are not limited to, façade improvements, the rehabilitation of blighted commercial properties and streetscape upgrades.
The goal of Community Legacy is to provide local governments and community development organizations with funding for essential projects aimed at strengthening communities through activities such as retaining and attracting businesses and encouraging homeownership and commercial revitalization. On Friday, the Lt. Governor and DHCD will hold an event in Prince George's County to highlight capital area projects receiving Community Legacy funding.
