Security Subcommittee On Efforts To
Recover From Hurricane Sandy
Wednesday, December 5, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) will testify before the Homeland Security Subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee about response and recovery efforts from Hurricane Sandy. The Senator will talk about the need to invest in storm mitigation infrastructure to better protect vulnerable areas from future damage. Others testifying before the Subcommittee include: Craig Fugate, Administrator, FEMA and Shaun Donovan, Secretary of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The President signed a disaster declaration for Maryland on November 21, which allows FEMA to provide public assistance disaster relief for most of Maryland, as well as hazard mitigation relief for the entire state.
