CARDIN PRAISES THE SELECTION OF

MIKULSKI AS CHAIRWOMAN OF THE SENATE

APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) today lauded the announcement that his fellow senator from Maryland, Barbara Mikulski, would be named the next Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations.

“This is great news for my friend and colleague Barbara Mikulski, and tremendous news for Maryland. Senator Barb has been shattering glass ceilings her entire career and all Marylanders are proud of her as she prepares to lead the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee. As our nation’s fragile recovery continues to pick up steam, Chairman Mikulski will help ensure that we find a path forward that keeps the federal government invested in job-creating, growth-friendly projects and programs. I have no doubt that she will be a responsible steward of the federal checkbook on behalf of Marylanders and all taxpayers.”
