CARDIN TO MEET WITH FORMER SENATOR

CHUCK HAGEL

On Wednesday, January 23 at 2pm, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, will meet with former Senator Chuck Hagel, the President’s nominee for Secretary of Defense. There will be a photo spray prior to the start of the meeting.

Senator Cardin requested this meeting to discuss many of the issues former Senator Hagel might face as a key member of the President’s national security team, if he were confirmed. Senator Cardin has openly expressed concerns regarding some of Senator Hagel’s previous statements, particularly related to Iran sanctions, but he has said that he will not prejudge the nomination.
