CARDIN TO HEAR CONCERNS OF BALTIMORE-AREA SMALL

BUSINESSES ON TAX DAY

On Monday, April 15 at 11:00a, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), a member of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, will join the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore for a roundtable discussion of how small businesses are being impacted by sequestration.  He will give an update on sequestration and the different FY14 budget plans passed by the Senate and the House and the budget most recently released by President Obama. Senator Cardin looks forward to hearing how these Baltimore City businesses are dealing with the sequestration cuts.

The Maryland Board of Revenue Estimates projects that sequestration could mean a loss of 12,600 jobs resulting in a reduction of Maryland’s wage and salary base by $2.5 billion. Sequestration also could potentially cost the state $150 million in federal grants to state and local government in this year alone.
