LT. GOVERNOR BROWN TO RECEIVE LiUNA MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD
WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 23, 2013) – TODAY, Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown will receive the Laborers International Union of North America’s (LiUNA) “Man of the Year” Award in recognition of his efforts to support and protect Maryland's working families. Under the leadership of Lt. Governor Brown, who leads the O’Malley-Brown Administration’s economic development portfolio, Maryland has implemented several critical reforms to attract new investments in our state, create good paying jobs, and expand prevailing wages for our workers. Most recently, Brown successfully led the effort to pass Maryland's new Public-Private Partnership law which was designed to attract new private investments into the state, generating thousands of new jobs. Just last week, Brown met with officials from the Federal Department of Transportation to discuss the potential to use the new Public-Private Partnership law to move forward with the Washington Metro area's Purple Line and Baltimore's Red Line.
