The family of Viola Olivia Tutman Lewis will receive family and friends for a family hour at Heritage United Church of Christ on Tuesday, December 13 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Homegoing services will be held at the church on Wednesday, December 14 beginning with the wake at 10 a.m. and followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m.
As the eighth child of Robert DeSherman Tutman, Jr. and Viola Haskell Campbell Tutman (both deceased), Viola was an amazing person who showed her love for people in everything that she did.
The Morgan graduate earned a master’s in sociology from the University of Maryland and began her career as Director of Programs/Field Supervisor with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Maryland. She also served as Deputy Director for the Maryland Department of the Environment until she became compelled to pursue her entrepreneurial dream to open a cookie shop. She and her daughter operated Cookie Occasions in Randallstown, Md, until her retirement, 3 years ago. Mrs. Lewis passed away peacefully on December 7. She was 75.
Mrs. Lewis leaves to continue her legacy: Her beloved daughter Pamela Guest, son-in-law Anthony Guest, daughter-in-law Nichole Lewis, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters: Isis Teal and Patricia Quarles, 1 brother: William Tutman, and a host of family and friends.
