Christine Fowler, beloved daughter of the late William and Lena Dunn, was born Aug. 21, 1922 in Wake County, N.C. She departed this life on November 21.

Christine was educated in the Wake County Public School system. In 1941, she graduated from W.E.B. DuBois High School in Rolesville, N.C.

On April 20, 1946, she married the late Wilbert Lee Fowler Sr. Their union was blessed with four children to whom Christine was devoted: Wilbert Jr., Deborah, Denise and Angela.

They settled in an area of Baltimore known as Fort Holabird. Later they moved to West Baltimore to Normount Avenue where the family lived for 50 years. She joined the Central Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Dr. Montague J. Brackett, who was also a close friend and neighbor. At Central she served on the Senior Choir #2, Chancel Choir, Mass Choir and the Courtesy Guild. She also attended Bible Study, Church School and was an active member of the bowling league.

Christine encouraged her children to excel in school and work hard to achieve their career goals. In addition to being a devoted homemaker, Christine worked as a substitute teacher in the Baltimore City Public Schools and as a judge in general and primary elections. Later she worked for 25 years as a tax consultant for H&R Block.
She was active in the Rosement Neighborhood Associated along with her long time friend and neighbor, Meline Yerrell.

Christine was also a member of Calvary Chapter #32, Order of the Eastern Star and proudly served as Worthy Matron of Calvary Chapter #32 from 1973 to 1974. Her leadership in the organization was a source of pride and joy to her and her family.

Christine loved her family and friends and welcomed all into her home. She loved to cook and was known for her delicious homemade Sunday dinners. She loved gardening and spent many hours working in her yard greeting and talking with neighbors.

Christine leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Wilbert Lee Fowler Jr., Deborah Winfield (Howard), Denise Fowler-Moott, Angela Tates (William); one sister, Bettie Ruth Montague of East Orange, N.J.; one brother Wilbert Lee Dunn of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren (Tony, Nichelle, Gregory Jr., Tracey, Andre’ (Preceded her in death), Aaron and Erika), three great-grandchildren (Gregory III, Frederick and Ahsan), a host of nieces and nephews and her devoted companion and caregiver, Robin Neverdon.
