On September 14, God called Charles Wesley Wells to come home. Charles gave all he had to make this world a better place and now his work on earth is done.
Charles Wesley Wells was born on May 25, 1934 in Isle of Wright County, Va. the late Henry Wells Sr. and Mary Virginia Winnegan Wells. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Murty Virginia Harris and four brothers, Edward Maurda Wells, George Raleigh Wells, James Tennis Wells and Joe Lewis Wells.
Charles was educated in the Isle of Wright Public School System. He continued his education in Baltimore City School System where he obtained his high school diploma.
On August 10, 1991, Charles married Shirley Ann Powers in Richmond, Va. Together they formed a family built on a foundation of serving God and taking care of one another. Their family also included Charles’ stepson, Willie James Powers, Jr.
Charles retired from Bethlehem Steel Ship Yard after 31 years and he was an entrepreneur who owned and operated Wells Transportation, LLC. Charles believed it was important to serve and protect the community and he therefore dedicated countless hours giving back to his community as a Baltimore City Auxiliary Policeman. He was also a loyal member of New Antioch Baptist Church of Randallstown, Md.
Charles leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Shirley Ann Wells, his stepson, Willie James Powers Jr.; a brother, Henry Wells; his sister, Veronica Gaskins; a brother-in-law, Linwood Harris, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
