On March 18, 1941 Jerome Floyd was born in Marion County, S.C. On July 14, he quietly suddenly slipped away.
He was the son of the late John H. Floyd Jr. and Priscilla Floyd. Jerome accepted the Lord at an early age and joined First Friendship Baptist Church, Nichols, S.C. He attended elementary school in Nichols and high school in Mullins, S.C. After graduating from high school, he served in the army. He was very proud of his military service. Upon leaving the military, he settled in Baltimore. He later met Annette Mary Neal and in 1976 they were joined in holy matrimony. They became the proud parents of one daughter, Latravia. Jerome was employed by the Coca Cola Bottling Company for 15 years. He later worked for the Maryland State Highway Administration and the Maryland Messenger Service before retiring.
Jerome loved people. He never met a stranger. He loved to laugh. He was a great cook and liked to discuss current events. Jerome absolutely loved to garden.
He leaves to cherish and treasure his memory his loving sister: Juanita (James) Holder of Hyattsville, Md.; his brother: John Douglas Vereen of Bethlehem, Pa.; his daughter: Latravia (James) Young and her mother of Baltimore; three granddaughters: Jamia, Jailyn, and Jordan; three nieces: Rena Holder of Baltimore, Lisa Simone Holder of Washington, D.C. and Sherrie (Roderick) O’Savio of Glendale, Md.; four aunts: Goldie C. Owens of Garland, N.C., Polly Jenkins of Lake.
