Marquitta L. Silver March was the oldest child born to the union of Rev. Matthew Silver and Theophra H. Silver on Feb. 26, 1949 in Wilkesboro, N.C. She departed this life on April 15, 2013.
She attended public school in Fayetteville, N.C. and graduated from Edmondson High School in Baltimore, Md. where she made substantial academic achievements.
She was united in holy matrimony to Gary P. March on Dec. 4, 1965 in Camden, N. J. To this union was born five sons.
Marquitta worked at Provident Hospital on Liberty Heights Avenue in Baltimore City doing many different jobs in the hospital including working as an administrator for a short period of time before she moved on to Deaton Nursing Home. At the Deaton Nursing Home she was the manager for the business office and later became a financial planner for the residents of Deaton. Marquitta also was a real estate agent for many real estate brokers over the years, until she recently retired from Long and Foster Realty Company.
Marquitta was active in church singing on the choir and participating in other church activities while growing up in Concord Baptist Church in Baltimore where her father, the late Rev. Matthew Silver was pastor. In her adult life she joined Bethel A.M.E. Church and later joined the New Psalmist Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Walter Scott Thomas, which she attended faithfully until she was no longer able. Marquitta always encouraged her children and grandchildren to attend church with her.
She was a loving mother and highly devoted to family values promoting family gatherings including cruises, yearly beach outings, home holiday celebrations and Christmas. She loved shopping for outfits for all her grandchildren for the holidays. She rejoiced and was very happy to announce all the new arrivals to the family. Marquitta was a football fanatic! She absolutely loved the Baltimore Ravens. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is leaves to cherish loving memories: her beloved and devoted husband, Gary P. March; five sons, Gary P. Jr. (Michelle); Gerrod, Glenn, Gerrun, and Germaine March; her mother, Mrs. Theophra H. Silver; one sister, Monica Silver Boyd (Tom); three brothers, Dr. Matthew R. Silver Jr. (Emily), Joseph Silver and Jerome Silver; beloved aunts, Mrs. Ida Silver Wiggins, Mrs. Mildred H. Little, and Mrs. Marvis Storis; her godmother, Mrs. Anne Wise; fourteen grandchildren; father-in-law, Edward March; brother-in-law, Reginald March (Nalee) and sister-in-law, Shula Pittman (David) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including five very special friends, Dr. Marsha Brown Mathews, Garry Causion, Earl and Pam Johnson, Cynthia Galmore, Willis and Maxine Gray.
