Cleveland Johnson Sr., departed this life on Dec. 19, 2012 at the Washington Hospital Center. He was born in Fayetteville, N.C. to the late Willie and Nannie Johnson. He attended public school in Fayetteville, N.C. He moved to Washington, D.C. in 1957. He worked for Embassy Dairy for six years and Safeway for thirty-two years as a truck driver.
Brother Johnson loved fishing, baseball, car racing and most of all the Washington Redskins. He was a die-hard Redskins fan. Brother Johnson was a charter member of Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church for sixteen years. He was very active in the church. He served as church treasurer, a trustee, usher, men’s ministry, male chorus, church custodian and drove the church van. He loved his church.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Junior Johnson (Lisa) of Washington, D.C.; one daughter, Evangelist Isoline Jones (Dwayne) of Clinton, Md.; one sister Odessa Shaw of Fayetteville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Clesh’a K. Johnson, Taleda B. Johnson, Tamica N. Jones, Sharmarie D. Jones; and many nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
