Associated Black Charities (ABC) hosted a conversation, Oct. 3, with the leadership from Harrah’s Baltimore, the new casino being developed for downtown and the Maryland State Lottery, which governs the eligibility for employment in the casino.
Representatives from numerous community organizations and workforce development agencies attended to learn more about the eligibility criteria for potential employees; how they could begin to prepare the community for upcoming opportunities; to increase public awareness and to learn specifics about the actual positions they may be available.
ABC’s goal in hosting this conversation was to help residents in Baltimore City and the surrounding communities and organizations that have access to large populations in need of employment to be better positioned to take advantage of these upcoming opportunities and increase the odds in hiring.
The Mayor’s Office of Employment Development will ultimately have the lead on connecting people to those job opportunities.
The event was free and held at ABC headquarters on Cathedral Street.
