AmeriHealth Caritas Appoints new Senior Vice President of IT

Fred Dickson, corporate information systems veteran, was named senior vice president for information technology of AmeriHealth Caritas, the national leader in Medicaid managed care, announced Oct. 14.

Dickson brings more than 25 years of experience in corporate information systems management to the newly-created position at AmeriHealth, the company said.

“A top-notch IT infrastructure is vital for any company today, but particularly for one like us that is looking to expand its mission,” Anne Morrissey, executive vice president and chief operating officer said in a statement.

“This starts with having a leader with an outstanding track record in health care information solutions and Fred Dickson fits the bill perfectly,” she said.

Dickson served as vice president of information technology for Coventry Health Care, where he directed the company’s IT strategy, planning, quality assurance and testing, enterprise architecture, project management, vendor management, IT training and corporate systems.

Dickson said in a statement, “Health care reform provides new opportunities for companies like AmeriHealth Caritas to help more people access quality health care, and I am excited to join a company that is so strongly committed to seizing those opportunities.

“I look forward to developing information solutions that will allow us to meet the needs of our current – and future—state.”

AmeriHealth Caritas operates in 15 states and the District of Columbia, and serves more than 4.8 million Medicaid, Medicare and CHIP members through its integrated managed care products, pharmaceutical benefit management services, behavioral health services and other administrative services. Headquartered in Philadelphia, AmeriHealth Caritas is a mission-driven company with 30 years of experience serving low-income and chronically ill populations.
