Dustin Metz, 30, of Washington, D.C., pled guilty on July 24 to possession of child pornography, according to a news release from the office of U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. and other officials.
Metz, who is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 17, faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
Metz told authorities statement, between September 2012 and April 2013 he possessed child pornography on his home computer. He used a peer-to-peer file sharing program to download to his computer numerous images and videos depicting child porn and made those images and videos available for other users of the program to download. He deleted the images and videos after viewing them.
Officers who executed a search warrant at his home on April 17 seized two laptop computers that provided evidence that he possessed child porn on both. He was arrested on May 9.
