Balto. ‘Public Enemy No. 1′ Tracked Down, Nabbed in Va. Beach

Baltimore’s latest “Public Enemy No. 1” was captured Oct. 10 in a dramatic arrest reminiscent of the best cop shows on television.

Christopher Troy Goode was tracked down and arrested in Virginia Beach, Va., after an extensive campaign by the U.S. Marshals’ Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, which comprises the U.S. Marshals Service, Baltimore City Police, Baltimore City Sheriff’s Office, Howard County Police and the Maryland State Police, officials said.

Goode, 26, was wanted on charges of attempted murder and domestic violence after allegedly stabbing his child’s mother 10 times and gutting her with a knife on Sept. 12 in South Baltimore. She was not identified. Goode was also wanted in connection with an incident in the state of Ohio.

Goode and his accomplice went on the lam after warrants were issued for their arrest on Sept. 30, and BOLOs (Be On the Look Out) were issued throughout Virginia for the pair. The fugitive, officials said, has a long criminal history of possession of guns, knives, and drugs. And he has also proven an elusive quarry in the past, leading officers on foot and vehicle pursuits during previous attempts to arrest him.

He was declared “Public Enemy No. 1” by Baltimore authorities Oct. 9.

Goode stayed true to form on Oct. 10, the day of his latest arrest. The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Taskforce tracked the suspect and his associate to the Sandpiper Inn, on the 1100 block of Pacific Ave. in Virginia Beach.

Marshals found a vehicle, confirmed by Baltimore police as being driven by the fugitive pair, in the parking lot of the Inn. And, during a short surveillance of the location, Goode and his associate were identified exiting the room and entering the target vehicle.

U.S. Marshals and Virginia Beach fugitive detectives swooped in to arrest Goode within the vehicle. However, he slipped through their fingers and attempted to escape on foot. The suspect ran through the pool area of the Inn, climbed over a fence, and continued in a full sprint down the road. The officers then engaged in full pursuit, eventually capturing the fleet-footed Goode after he stumbled.

Goode is currently awaiting extradition back to Baltimore.
