Bowie workshop on the art of batik

Nigerian master artist Tunde Odunlade led a hands-on workshop at Bowie State University, March 25, with about 40 students and staff in the art of batik, using wax and dye on textiles.

The event was sponsored by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art and Bowie State. Odunlade gives some one-on-one tips to Jamarie Spencer, of Laurel, Md., a junior visual communications and digital media arts major.
