Three Morgan State players scored double digits in points, but the Bears fell short against the University of San Diego Toreros in a 66-63 non-conference loss Dec. 29.
Morgan gave it their best shot and kept the contest tight throughout the first half. The Toreros and the Bears exchanged leads 13 times throughout the game, tying the score six times before San Diego nailed a few clutch free-throws at the end of the game to steal the win.
San Diego (7-8) was led by sophomore guard Johnny Dee’s 24 points, including the crucial late free-throws. Senior guard Cameron Miles followed with 12 points and five rebounds, while senior forward Chris Manresa added 10 points and 13 rebounds for San Diego.
Morgan was led by senior guard Justin Black’s 16 points, while junior Anthony Hubbard scored 12 points. Senior forward DeWayne Jackson added 11 points.
Morgan State (3-7) will face Saint Joseph’s on January 5.
