Junior running back Anthony Jordan scored two touchdowns as the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats ran away to an easy 27-6 victory over the Howard Bison in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game played on Oct. 12 in Washington, D.C.
Howard couldn’t stop Bethune-Cookman’s offense as the Wildcats scored four touchdowns and piled up 480 total yards, 208 yards recorded via their running game.
Jordan scored both of his touchdowns early in the first quarter, pushing Bethune-Cookman ahead, 14-0; Howard converted two field goals in the second quarter to cut the lead to 14-6 at halftime. But Wildcats senior running back Isidore Jackson added another touchdown in the third quarter and sophomore running back Drexler Dixon scored one more rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter to leave the final score at 27-6.
Howard’s offense struggled as junior quarterback Greg McGhee completed just 14-of-28 passes for 122 yards, zero touchdowns and an interception; sophomore running back William Parker rushed for 51 yards for the Bison.
Howard has now lost four straight games, dropping to a 1-5 overall record, 0-3 in the MEAC, while Bethune-Cookman advanced to 5-1 overall, 2-0 in the MEAC.
The Bison will next host Morgan State for Howard’s homecoming on Oct. 19.
