The first full round of the 2013 NCAA men’s basketball tournament is halfway complete, with 16 games played on March 21.

The tournament opened with a few surprising upsets—no surprise in a field that has no clear favorites.

In 16 games played March 21, four games saw a lower seed defeat a higher seed including No. 12 California defeating No. 5 UNLV and No. 12 Oregon beating No. 5 Oklahoma State.

Midwest Region

No. 1 Louisville defeated No. 16 N.C A&T, 79-48

No. 8 Colorado defeated No. 9 Missouri, 84-72

No. 12 Oregon defeated No. 5 Oklahoma State, 68-55

No. 4 Saint Louis defeated No. 13 New Mexico, 64-44

No. 6 Memphis defeated No. 11 Saint Mary’s, 54-52

No. 3 Michigan State defeated Valparaiso, 65-54

West Region

No. 1 Gonzaga defeated Southern, 64-58

No. 9 Wichita State defeated No. 8 Pittsburgh, 73-55

No. 6 Arizona defeated No. 11 Belmont, 81-64

No. 14 Harvard defeated No. 3 New Mexico, 68-62

South Region

No. 5 VCU defeated No. 12 Akron, 88-42

No. 4 Michigan defeated No. 13 South Dakota State, 71-56

East Region

No. 12 California defeated No. 5 UNLV, 64-61

No. 4 Syracuse defeated No. 13 Montana, 81-34

No. 6 Butler defeated No. 11 Bucknell, 68-56

No. 3 Marquette defeated No. 14 Davidson, 59-58
