Masters 2nd Rd: Tiger Moves up to Seventh Place

Tiger Woods is currently tied for seventh place after scoring 71, three-under-par in the second round of the Masters at Augusta National on April 12 in Augusta, Ga.

At one point during the second round Friday, Woods had actually shared the lead after nailing a two-putt birdie on the eighth hole, and on the 15th hole he even had a chance to take the outright lead. But what appeared to be a perfect wedge setting up a short birdie putt on the green ended up hitting the 15th hole flag and rolled backward into the water; forcing him to settle for a bogey instead.

“I was pretty pissed,” Woods told reporters after the round. “It was looking like I’m making birdie, and next thing you know I’ve got to struggle and grind not to drop two shots.

“I thought I played pretty well today; a round that should’ve been in the 60s,” said Woods, who carries a total score of 141 into the third round. “My score doesn't quite indicate how well I played today."

Australian pro Jason Day ended the second round with the lead with a score of 68, one shot ahead of fellow Australian Marc Leishman, who tied at second with American Fred Couples. Day’s total score through both rounds is 138, while Leishman and Couples sit at 139.

But while Tiger hunts down Leishman and Day, 14-year-old Chinese golfer Guan Tianlang is stealing the show as he became the youngest player to make the cut in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event.

Tianlang scored 73 in the first round and 75 in the second round, tying him in 55th place, heading into the third round with a total score of 148.
