Paul Blair, the Baltimore Orioles centerfielder who won two World Series championships with the team in 1966 and 1970, died Dec. 26 according to multiple media sources. He was 69.
Blair collapsed while bowling in Pikesville, Md., his wife told The Baltimore Sun. He was pronounced dead a short time later at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Blair played 13 seasons with the Orioles and was part of the 1966, 1969, 1970, and 1971 World Series teams, according to MASN Sports, and made key contributions to the Orioles’ 1966 and 1970 championships. He won two additional World Series rings in 1977 and 1978 with the New York Yankees.
Known for his defensive abilities, Blair won eight Gold Gloves during his tenure in Baltimore, including seven straight from 1969 to 1975.
