Baltimore’s most recent plans to refurbish Pratt Street may take more than a decade and cost upwards of $100 million, reports from baltimore.bizjournals say.
The city hopes to revamp the heavily-traveled street with private investments from over a dozen property owners spanning from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to President Street, former Baltimore City Planning Commissioner Douglas B. McCoach III said.
McCoach continued by saying the initial design of Pratt Street took about 30 years to complete and the current 10-year time frame for completion may be extended due to changes in the economy. But ensuring the project is properly thought out, and not just on schedule, is most important McCoach explained.
“Once you start to walk down Pratt Street and you think about what it could be, it’s tremendous,” he said. “There’s an opportunity to reinvent what Pratt Street means for our time.”
