(May 12, 2009) - The Bowie State Lady Bulldogs dominated the Central Interscholastic Athletics Association this season, but they simply didn’t have enough to keep their success rolling at the NCAA Regional Championship tournament this past weekend.

BSU (26-8) ended its postseason play after falling, 2-0, to Shippensburg University (25-18) in the loser’s bracket last Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs struggled at the plate throughout the entire regional tournament and didn’t earn a hit until a late inning against Shippensburg.

Bowie State’s batting woes began in the first round of the tournament as they didn’t record a hit in an 8-0 loss to Lock Haven.

The 2009 CIAA champs did make one last push late in the game against Shippensburg when senior Heather Enders led off with a walk and moved to third on a double by freshman Shanae Smoot.

But, senior Ashley Cook struck out at bat and sophomore Danielle McClay popped a fly ball out to center field for an easy out that ended the game.

Despite the early exit at the NCAA Regional’s, BSU’s Enders still finished the season with an impressive 13-4 starter record.
