(May 13, 2009) - In his first 100 days, President Barack Obama has been working hard to fix the economy. Still, if you are a business owner, it has become even harder to turn a profit or even get your passion off of the ground. There are many ways to build wealth and help ourselves during this tough patch that will not only empower our pocketbooks but empower ourselves.
The Prince George's County Women Business Owners (WBO), the Prince George's County Small Business Initiative (SBI) and the Prince George's County Office of Central Services Minority Business Development Division present the 4th Annual, "It's All about ME!" Women's Business and Wellness Conference.
A gathering place for women business owners and those who are interested in entrepreneurship, this conference is the perfect blend of networking, attending workshops and gaining valuable information. By calling on many leaders and experts from the area, including Prince George’s County’s First Lady, Leslie Johnson, this conference is focused on economic empowerment through education.
Also, one of the main focuses on the conference is empowering the woman behind the business.
"We seldom take time out for ourselves," said WBO President and Conference Manager Dawn Jackson. "That is really the foundation upon which this conference was born; taking time out for self. We tend to burn the candle at both ends; we're superwomen...but we need to know that it's okay to not have to wear that 'S on our chest' all the time."
The annual Women's Business and Wellness Conference not only addresses the financial needs of many professional women in the area, but also provides information on mental and physical wellness. The conference will educate business women and entrepreneurs on the latest ways to build and promote your business but will also offer massages and information on diet and nutrition.
The conference aims to satisfy business owner’s primary needs.
Many experts are serving as workshop facilitators and speakers, such as Terri Holley, a life coach and social networking expert, and Women’s Comprehensive Health specialist, Dr. Angela Marshall. Christine M. Bussey, M.D., an influential cardiologist, will give the keynote address, informing attendees about the dangers of heart disease; how we can recognize it and how we can protect ourselves from it.
The conference will be held on May 19 at the 3400 Pennsylvania Drive facility in Landover, Md. To register for the conference, network with local business owners and attend the workshops and awards luncheon visit www.wbo.org.
