The Maryland State NAACP held its Centennial Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, May 16th, to celebrate 100 years of civil rights advocacy. The event was held at Martins West in Baltimore County and hosted by radio personality Rev. Lee Michaels of Heaven 600 AM. Notable volunteers were inducted into the Maryland State Conference Centennial Hall of Fame and Bishop Adam J. Richardson gave the keynote address.
Over 400 guests from all 23 NAACP branches statewide were treated to a performance by Stellar Award winner, and Baltimore native, Jessica Greene. In his address Bishop Richardson reminded all in attendance of the history and importance of the NAACP and the Black church working together as freedom fighters for the political, social, and economic equality of all people. Founded in 1909, the NAACP remains one of the most prominent civil rights organizations in the country.
