Revelers remember the life of Michael Jackson.

(July 1, 2009) - Baltimore mourned with the rest of the world last week when we learned that the King of Pop had passed away. Rather than staying sad all week, many of Baltimore’s biggest promoters decided to celebrate his life through song, dance, and their favorite memories.

Events 4 Good People turned their party into a celebration at Lux Lounge (10 S. Calvert St.) on Friday night. The audience danced well into the next morning to “Dancing Machine,” “Rock with You,” “Scream,” and many of Michael’s biggest hits. Promoters Kian and Floyd also brought the house down at Milton’s Grill (336 N. Calvert St.) on Saturday night with Poly Alumni. Citizens were also spotted celebrating Michaels life at Pur Lounge (2322 Boston St.) over the weekend. WERQ 92.3 held a candle light vigil for the King of Pop and many Baltimore business leaders, artist, and socialites were among the crowd. Former r&b star Sisqo was spotted paying his respects to Michael at the vigil. Beyonce performed to a nearly sold out First Mariner Arena last weekend. Thousands of fans came out to support the pop star on her I Am tour. Baltimore native Mario was spotted in D.C. at Club 24 performing his latest hit “Break Up” for the crowd.

There’s a lot to look forward to this Fourth of July weekend with the African American Heritage Festival coming to town at M&T Bank Stadium July 3-5. En Vogue, Teena Marie, and Anita Baker are just a few of the artist slated to perform. The entry free is $5 and it’s certainly a kid friendly event. Jazzy Summer Nights is back in full swing at the Hopkins Plaza. Fertile Ground with N’delible will be performing this Thursday at 6 p.m. and it’s free to the public.

Velvet Rope, Pur, Lux, and Eden’s are just a few of the hottest spots in town that will be hosting Fourth of July parties. Be sure to log onto thefabempire.com to get the complete weekend rundown, it’s sure to be a hit!

Until Next Week,

Mia
