Althea D. Fisher McKenzey was born on Jan. 13, 1952, to the late Alphonso Fisher Sr. and the late Alberta Madden Fisher. The youngest of eight children, she departed this life suddenly on Aug. 25.
Althea was educated in the Baltimore County and Baltimore City Public School Systems. Throughout her life, Althea continued to pursue other educational opportunities. In 1973, she met the love of her life, Bruce McKenzey. They were joined in holy matrimony on Nov. 20, 1970. Together, they raised four children. Darryl Fisher and Broderick Eppes preceded her in death.
Althea accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. Throughout her life she was affiliated with various churches, most recently with Simmons Memorial Baptist Church and Called To Action Ministries. She was known to supply the churches with beautiful plants and flowers. Throughout her life she touched many people with her random acts of kindness
Althea was an entrepreneur with a love for flowers. She owned and operated Sweet Willow Florist. In addition, she was proud to volunteer as a Vista Worker. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, gardening and barbecuing. She also had a love for baking, music and spending time with family.
She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband and friend, Bruce; son Del Rico A. Eppes (Deonna); daughter Yolanda Eppes (Quanda); two brothers, Frank (Barbara) and Alphonso Jr.(Carla); sisters Alberta Griffin (Wendell) and Almeda Bratcher (Vincent); five grandchildren, T.J. Eppes, Dominick Dell Rico Eppes, D’Andre Brown, Davion Broerick Eppes and Cherish Eppes-McNeal; great-grandchild Mariah Eppes; one uncle, the Rev. Horace madden (Evelyn); aunts Dorothy Decker (John) and Anita Madden and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Two sisters and one brother, Alvin Fisher Sr. (Gloria), Alfreda Williams (John) and Alice Coleman (Richard), preceded her in death.
