“How can I say thanks for the things you have done for me? Things so undeserved
yet you give to prove your love for me. The voices of a million angels cannot express my gratitude. All that I am or ever hope to be I owe it all to Thee. To God be the glory for the things he has done.”
“There were times I’m sure you knew when I bit off more than I could chew;” but “I will survive.” Wow, we survived my 60th birthday. We partied, went to the ball game, “rocked all night long” “after midnight” at Maceo’s, The Havana Club, The Place, Pazo, Café Hon and Tequila Sunset.
“We don't accomplish anything in this world alone ... and whatever happens is the result of the whole tapestry of one's life and all the weavings of individual threads from one to another that creates something.” - Sandra Day O'Connor
‘What’s there to say?’
My friends it was "Just You, Just Me". My two-step is turning into a slow shuffle. "Try to remember the kind of September when life was slow and oh so mellow.” My bucket list I did alone and with friends Wanda Watts, Marsha Jews, Lora Mayo, Brenda Baker and numerous other friends including Lydia, who said she was having as much fun as me doing my bucket list and exploring new adventures.

‘Get your kicks on Route 66’
For years I wanted to stop at the Full Moon Café on Route 140. On the first day of my bucket list I was clueless about my destination, so instead of getting off 795 at my normal exit I continued towards Westminster and as soon as I saw the sign I knew this was it. It was close to 6:30, too late to call anyone to meet me and I had to be somewhere by 7:05 so “there I go there I go” “alone again, naturally.” I was apprehensive because I knew I would not know anyone there, so I said to myself, “I’ll leave before the sun sets.” Well, let me tell you by the time I left the sun had set for a minute and they treated me like a regular. The food was great, the beer cold and the bartenders Gina and Debra were fantastic. I mentioned I saw KC and the Sunshine Band, next thing I know they’re playing their music. This is a great place to watch the Ravens or relax on the huge heated deck. After I paid my check Gina rang the bell. Now I am old school, so I thought someone was setting up the bar. She smiled and said that’s what we do when we get a nice tip.

Boston Street in Canton has a lot of restaurants, so we decided to stop at Bartenders which is named so because bartenders own it (makes sense to me). Danny was the bartender who served us that night. For those who love wings but don’t eat fried foods, this is the place for you. The wings are baked and all food is freshly prepared. The Greco pizza with shrimp and lump crab was outstanding. Weekly specials include a pound of steamed shrimp and a pint of beer for $12 call 410-534-BEER or http://www.bartendersbaltimore.com
“You can learn many things from children; how much patience you have, for instance.”- Franklin P. Jones
Brenda Baker and her granddaughters Kelsey and Kameron are taking piano lessons. Brenda informed me she can play one of my favorite songs. “Claire de Lune,” so I stopped over for a mini concert. It was getting close to 7:05 as I prepared to leave to be somewhere other than Brenda’s when her granddaughters said, “Aunt Valerie will you walk to the corner store with us?” Guess what? That’s exactly what I did. So, at 7:05 I was “standing on the corner” of Longwood and Poplar Terrace celebrating another bucket list moment.
I always said Virgos were spirited, “happy people” because we were conceived during the holidays when parents were in a high spirited celebratory mood, therefore producing “happy people.” Anyway, that’s my theory. The black and white Virgo party hosted by Carlos Hutchins had all the beautiful people dancing to the continuous music of Baretta & Company, STYLI and DJ Leon Jones. Some of the club and restaurant owners participating were Tequila Sunset, 5 Mile House, Sista’s Place and Maceo’s Restaurant.
It’s your birthday Eleanor Janey, Delores Chambers, Juanita Thompson, Milton Hamiel and my grandson Damien Lee, who’s celebrating his 22nd birthday. Grandmom loves you.
