(October 31, 2009) - Connecticut police have charged three men in connection with the murder of University of Connecticut football player Jasper Howard, according to The Associated Press.

According to the AP, 21-year-old John Lomax III was charged with murder and conspiracy to commit assault on Oct. 27 for the fatal stabbing of Howard earlier in October. Lomax’s bail was set at $2 million.

Howard, a cornerback on the football team, was stabbed in the abdomen during a fight at a UConn student dance on campus on Oct. 18, police said. He died later at a hospital in Hartford.

Hakim Muhammad, 20, was also charged with conspiracy to commit assault, while 21-year-old Jamal Todd was charged with a felony count of false reporting and a misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment for pulling a fire alarm during the fight, the AP reported.

Muhammad’s bail was set at $750,000, while Todd was released on $5,000 bond.

I hope the right person is arrested and prosecuted for this young man's death. The important issue is that young people who have nothing, accomplished nothing, and contributed nothing to this world are out there killing each other over NOTHING. When it all said and done in this case this is what has been done; a young man is dead, some young man is accused and convicted and sent to prison, several families and a community is in upheaval forever and absolutely nothing has been learned. So in the end J. Howards death was for nothing. The person who killed him will go to jail for nothing. The community they both came from will be left with nothing. What a waste of life.

To anonymous r. How was Mr. Lomax's name introduced into this case? Just wondering. If he was there he may very well know what happened and if he does why would he take the fall for a murderer instead of coming forth and telling the investigators what he knows? Just curious!!! Is he upholding the no snitch policy that we all know is an unwritten rule of the "hood"? Just wondering?
